2017 is looking like it will be remembered as a rebound year for the Calgary Stampede.

After last year's dismal attendance due to poor weather, crowds are back with a vengeance this year.  Yesterday (July 8) 107,692 people passed through the gates during day two, over 10,000 better than the same day a year ago.

That brings the cumulative attendance to 259,880.

Crowds should be large again today because it's Family Day.  Families received free admission from 8:00 am until noon as well as a free pancake breakfast for the first 25,000 through the gates.

The finals of the World Stock Dog Championships which featured Airdrie father and son pair Milt and Kier Scott, go this afternoon at 5:00 pm at the Agrium Western Event Centre.
