You may want to reinforce your patio umbrellas and trampolines as wicked weather is blowing in.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather warning for many parts of Alberta, Airdrie included.

While temperatures should remain warm today (May 23), we will feel the effects of Mother Nature's wrath beginning this evening and into tomorrow according to Dave Carlsen, Meteorologist with Environment Canada. "Things are going to take a turn for the worse, it looks like some rain is going to move into the area and it's going to start to get windy."

Some areas in Alberta will even see snow, but Carlsen says the white stuff will be minimal in Airdrie. "It looks like the snow is going to stay in the higher terrain like the Foothills toward the Icefields Parkway and up towards Jasper that is where the main threat of snow is." Carlsen says the real threat for Airdrie and region will be strong winds.

Although Wednesday's dreary weather will seem to drag on forever, Carlsen thinks the system will blow by quite quickly. "It looks like by Thursday it will calm down to some showers and afternoon clearing. By the time Thursday night and Friday come around it should be back to nice spring like weather and sunny skies."

Looking forward in his crystal ball, Carlsen, predicts the weekend weather should be fairly nice with temperatures hitting 20 to 21C.
