Drivers received a scary reminder about the dangers of the roads on Monday, November 21st.

A Didsbury couple was stranded overnight after their car rolled down a steep ditch outside Cochrane. The RCMP are using this incident to remind drivers to keep an emergency kit in their vehicles.

"If you're travelling in the winter time it's always good to carry some type of safety kit with you." said Cst. Michael Hibbs, RCMP.

Your kit should include a blanket, non perishable food items, booster cables, warm clothing, and a way to keep your phone charged.

Staying in your vehicle if you are stranded overnight is the best way to ensure you are found quickly and safe.

"If you go travelling around, you can get lost, or get hurt more, and then it's harder to find you." said Hibbs.
