Councillor Darrell Belyk announced Sunday (July 30) that he will be seeking re-election for Airdrie's City Council.

Originally elected in 2013, Belyk seeks another four years to see through both his and the City's commitments.

"Once you're in it, four years is not really enough time to go through and evaluate and see your ideas through. I'd like to go through for another four years and just make sure that all the things the I've initiated or that Council initiated is carried through. I'd like see see through things to the very end, that's my goal."

Belyk's platform will focus on amenities and infrastructure, giving his support to a women's shelter, better roads, and improving school safety and healthcare in Airdrie. Another priority for Belyk is a West Side Recreation Facility.

"I know its going to be a couple of years down the road, but the planning stages are now. I feel if we have the numbers of the Nose Creek Swim Association and others that we can come to some sort of agreement between the swim associations and the City to move ahead."

Belyk has plans to visit those in the community to move these conversations forward.
