Starting today (March 2), you might find yourself in possession of a brand new blue recycling bin.

The City of Airdrie will start delivering the bins today, and Susan Grimm, Team Leader for Waste and Recycling, says getting the bins to every house will be a bit of a process.

"We are hoping for approximately 800 deliveries per day. It's going to take a little bit of time because we have just over seventeen thousand houses to deliver to."

Grimm expects that the deliveries will take the entire month.

"My timeline for the company was by the end of March, because we will be starting collection as of April 3."

The City has hired ten residents to deliver the bins. Besides making sure the bins aren't delivered the same day as garbage pickups, there's no set plan for when each area of Airdrie will receive the bins.

Recycling pickup schedules haven't released on the City's website yet, but Grimm said there is an easy way to remember when it will be.

"I can tell you that collection will be the next business day following your waste and organics collection."

Grimm also said that there is also a feature on MyAirdrie, which allows people to sign up for notifications about waste, recycling and organics pick up.
