W.H. Croxford wrapped up anti-bullying week on November 18 by participating in Blue Friday.

Blue Friday is a full day anti-bullying campaign put on by Peer Mediation and Skills Training. According to coordinator Florence Lye, this year's theme, "Coping With Change", is timely.

"This year we've been doing a lot of change," says Lye, "We had new begins last year, changes in our government, and this year we have lots of things happening in Fort McMurray, with change in government, change in the States. Coming down to the kids, there's a big change in Croxford High as well because this is the first year that they're having their Grade 12 in this school."

The entire school, including staff, dressed in blue and participated in the day's events. After an assembly featuring words from Councilor Darrell Belyk and motivational speaker Bruce Lee, the school had breakout sessions including some unique activities.

"We have a comic teacher here," said Lye, "To teach students how to defend bullying with stand-up."

Other sessions focused on topics such as mindfulness, money mentoring, and dealing with stress, and activities like laughter yoga and drumming.

PMAST will be holding another Blue Friday event on November 25 at Good Shepherd School.
