Rocky View Trustee Todd Brand will run for re-election to the school board in the upcoming municipal election.

In a press release, Brand said if he is elected for a second term, he will continue to advocate for the needs of Airdrie's students while also making sure the needs of every Rocky View student is met.

"If re-elected I will continue to bring a blend of experience and leadership that has made me an effective member of the RVS board. As trustee, I will again invest my skills and energy to help our board meet challenges and continue the provision of top level education for the families of our district. I have been a strong team player while making sure that the needs of Airdrie families are clearly brought before the Board."

In his first four years as Ward 3 Trustee, Brand was elected by his board colleagues to serve as vice-chair every year. He has also served on a number of committees for the school division, including Labor Relations, Transportation, Adult Learning Advisory Board and the Advocacy Committee.

Brand has also been an active resident of Airdrie for more than eleven years. In the past, he's served on City Council's Community Service Advisory Board.

Brand sees Airdrie's current growth as one area that will need to be addressed by the incoming school board.

"We must continue to work with the City of Airdrie in securing a high school site as well as improving the process of site allocation."

With only three current trustees expected to run in the fall's elections, Brand hopes his re-election will mean stability and leadership for the incoming school board.
