The midnight deadline for Canada Post workers has passed, meaning hundreds have taken strike action.

Last week, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) issued a deadline for Midnight on October 22nd to strike if a new agreement wasn't reached.

After negotiations failed to come up with a new contract over the weekend, workers in four Canadian cities began rotating strikes this morning.

Mail service will be delayed or stopped today for residents in Victoria, Edmonton, Windsor and Halifax.

Right now there's no word as to if and when service will be affected for residents in Airdrie and the surrounding areas.

In a statement on their website, Canada Post says they"remain committed to arriving at a negotiated settlement with CUPW, while making every effort to minimize the impact of any disruption on the customers we serve."

To find out if the strike is affecting any deliveries for you, you can visit Canada Post's website.
