Airdrie residents with an interest in business will have the chance to ask Airdrie candidates questions during a forum the Chamber of Commerce is hosting in April.

Lynda Giansante, administrative assistant at the Chamber of Commerce, describes the event.

"We are holding a political forum on Thursday, April 11th at the Bert Church Theatre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m and the forum will begin promptly at 7," says Giansante. "(It's) going to be along the lines of strengthening the business, growing political trades, helping the community and improving government accountability."

Giansante says the candidates will accept questions from the public.

"The candidates will have 3 to 5 minutes to present and there will be a question period mostly about business and prosperity within the city."

She believes forums like this are important for the public to bring pressing questions to the attention of candidates and to meet the people they plan to have represent them.

"I think (it's important) so people can get out and meet their candidates, ask questions if they want to, including the public. The public is obviously welcome to the forum as well as are the candidates and any member of the chamber."

The entire public is welcome to the forum.

"Anybody is invited to the forum. Candidates from Airdrie-East as well as Airdrie-Cochrane (will be there) to participate and there will be a question/answer period so come early, come with your questions, and meet your candidates."
