Yesterday (June 21), the City of Airdrie announced the three new members of the Airdrie Main Street Square Real Estate Inc. (AMSQ).

Martin Durocher, Dustin Fedun and Art Skow will join Mayor Peter Brown and Councillors Allan Hunter and Candice Kolson on the board, and bring a wealth of experience to the board.

"We wanted to have people with a variety of skill sets that apply to the same thing," said Mayor Brown.

Martin Durocher has lived in Airdrie since 1978 and has owned a small business since 1979. He is currently a licensed Alberta Realtor and comes from a background in commercial construction, sales and marketing.

Dustin Fedun has lived in Airdrie for 12 years and brings municipal board experience to the table. He's also a commercial lender and banker and brings financing and accounting experience to the position.

Art Skow has 30 years of experience managing commercial real estate, having worked for Bentall Kennedy since 2005. He is currently vice-president, Property Management, Alberta, and is responsible for providing property management services for a portfolio of 14 million square feet in the province's two major cities. He also has his Real Property Administrator designation, a diploma in Urban Land Economics from UBC, and is a licensed Real Estate Associate. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Building Owners and Managers Association and is President of the Board of the Green Calgary Association.

Mayor Brown says the board will now meet and evaluate their asset.

"First order of business is to meet, [look at] where are we at with our asset, what do we need to do, what's here now, what do we see it as being, and all of those types of things."

One opening does still exist on the board, as a fourth candidate had to bow out of the position. Mayor Brown encouraged any qualified person to apply for the position.
