Airdrie received as much as 10 to 15 centimetres of snow this week, which meant city road crews were busy plowing away.

However, Team Lead for the roads department, Mike Avramenko, says it didn't affect their routine that much.

"In terms of accumulation, the event was not significant enough to change our normal protocol. We had our seven trucks out maintaining our priority roads. Now that the event is over, we've moved into our cleanup mode."

While crews did tackle the busiest roadways first, they still have quite a bit of work to do.

"Where you're going to see a lot of the activity is on the arterials and collectors," says Avramenko, "When we have an accumulation of about 15 centimetres, it takes anywhere from 7 to 10 days to clean it right up."

Weather permitting, the city hopes to have all roads cleared within the next week.
