Although hot button issues like the Airdrie Main Street Square always draw crowds to City Council meetings, Mayor Peter Brown said overall involvement in Council meetings is the same it always has been.

"I think certainly as it relates to the Square it's definitely gone up but overall, I don't see a significant increase over the past six years."

Despite this, Mayor Brown said community involvement like attending City Council meetings is a vital part of shaping Airdrie's future.

"For me, it's your city, so if you don't have a say in what goes on, it's pretty hard to sit back and complain."
