If you've ever wondered how your tax dollars are spent in Airdrie, the City's "Look Closer" campaign is designed to give you that information.

"Basically it's a campaign to help our residents become more familiar with where their tax dollars go and all the bits and pieces that make up running a city," said Megan Stewart, Communications Advisor with the City of Airdrie.

The City currently has a number of infographics on their website that give a visualization of how tax dollars are spent in Airdrie, and they are also conducting a survey on how residents want their taxes spent.

"The survey's a great touch-point for our residents. It allows them the opportunity to provide feedback straight to council on how they'd like their tax dollars spent and what's important to them."

Stewart said that the survey will be taken to Council in the fall, and it will play a result in the upcoming budget deliberations.

"The qualitative feedback that we get from just the answers that people enter, that's actually very helpful when it comes to creating the budget and identifying what's really, truly important to our stakeholders and why it's important."

Stewart explained that it is important for residents to take part in these types of surveys, because it gives the opportunity to have a say in how your tax dollars are spent.

The survey will run until the end of September.
