On Saturday, October 1st, Alberta's Minimum Wage rose to $12.20 an hour, well on it's way to reaching $15 by 2018.

It's the second time the wage has gone up since the NDP layed out their new platform for minimum wage workers in 2015.

Already, some local business partners are more concerned than excited about the change.

"It's one more thing," says President of the Airdrie Chamber of Commerce, Linda Bruce, "If this was the only thing, I don't think people would have maybe quite as much concern."

Bruce says that the move, while good in it's nature, might actually put more pressure on local businesses.

"An I think that's mostly what it is there's some fear that people feel as well as the actual pressure of trying to make ends meat to keep their businesses floating."

The next move for the Government's Living Wage plan is to increase to $13.60/hr on October 1st, 2017.
