The start of curbside recycling is coming up quickly.

The City of Airdrie has distributed a guide on which items belong in which bin, but you might find yourself wondering about a specific item that isn't covered in the guide.

Tracy Pagenhardt, Program Coordinator for Waste and Recycling with the City, says you can always phone or email with your waste and recycling questions, but there's an easier way to find out about specific items.

"We also have a tool online, we are in the midst of redesigning it and updating it, but it's kind of a what-goes-where tool."

The tool, found under "Where Does It Go?" on the City's Waste and Recycling page, has a search bar. You simply type in the item you are looking to dispose of, and the tool tells you if it's recycling, organic, or garbage. The tool is also set up for continual improvement.

"If there isn't an answer, we get an email saying, somebody asked to recycle a certain item that wasn't on there. That way, we can consistently update the tool itself."

The tool has been on the City's website for a while, but isn't yet up-to-date with the changes coming in April. Pagenhardt says they're working hard to change that.

"It's up right now, but like I said, it is being revamped, so we're hoping to have everything on there in the next couple of months."
