The City of Airdrie is reaching out to its residents as the national legalization of Cannabis approaches.

Mayor Peter Brown said that recent changes to the timeline of the legalization are giving City officials more time to look at their municipal options.

The City of Airdrie is gathering feedback on how to handle the cannabis legalization

“The nice part is that they prolonged some of this legislation that’s going to regulate and restrict access to cannabis and it looks like it’s going to be early fall 2018 and it’s going to cover oils, vapours and smoking of cannabis.”

Right now, the City is conducting a phone survey to gauge the public’s opinions on the issue and very soon another option will come up.

“We’re now going to take that information and figure out how to implement it within our jurisdiction and there’s going to be a survey coming out, April 25th through May 6th.”

More information on the City’s Marijuana survey can be found on their official website.
