The City of Airdrie will be hosting an all candidates forum on April 2nd, 2019. City Council made the decision at a special meeting Monday night.

The city will be inviting candidates who are registered through Elections Alberta for both the ridings of Airdrie East and Airdrie Cochrane.

The forum will be open for the public to attend. Airdrie Mayor Peter Brown said questions for the candidates will focus on the needs of the city. They will include topics like infrastructure funding, transportation and healthcare.

“I think it’s going to be a very informative meeting,” he said. “Hopefully whoever is elected and whoever takes government, we will be able to go back to them and say: do you remember this? You committed to doing that and these are our expectations.”

There will also be a 45-minute public meet and greet following the forum so residents can ask candidates their own questions in person.

The forum will take place in Council Chambers at City Hall on April 2, doors open at 6:30 P.M.

The Q&A with Council and candidates starts at 7:00 P.M. and is expected to run until 8:30, the public meet and greet will take place afterwards from 8:30-9:00 P.M.
