With temperatures expected to climb in the next week, you might be wondering what could happen when all that snow in Airdrie melts.

Mike Avramenko from the City's Roads Department, said they're already looking at plans to help combat the melting snow.

"We, in conjunction with the Water Service are working on some areas that traditionally have some drainage concerns. Looking ahead next week, it looks like we could have temperatures in the double digits. We could have a lot of issues in some of the residentials."

Avaremenko said that the departments will work to help open the over 200 catch basins in the city to help mitigate flooding.

However, he admitted that it won't happen all at once.

"It's going to come at us pretty fast when you go from minus temperatures to double digits on the plus side. There's gonna be a lot of water floating around. We're never going to be able to get to all of the areas at once and we'll just have to be a little patient."

Airdrie is expecting a warming trend beginning tomorrow where temperatures could climb to as high as 10 degrees by the middle of next week.
