Cochrane MLA Reacts To Keystone

Cochrane's MLA shares his thoughts on how Keystone will affect Cochrane.

Cameron Westhead, says his NDP Government is happy about the announcement President Trump made regarding Keystone XL.

Westhead says this economic boost can trickle down to the city centres and small towns, including Cochrane. 

"These kinds of announcements always have a big spin off effect across the province. We know when Fort McMurray does well, the entire province does well."

The general feeling was the NDP wasn't in support of any pipeline advancement, but Westhead indicates their main priority always has been getting Albertans back to work.

"The Premier and NDP has always supported the energy industry and getting our products to new markets. Obviously we are quite pleased about the Keystone approval, but we also have a lot of work to get our product to tide water."

Westhead has seen activities picking up and various companies are boosting their capital spending forecasts which is in relation to the pipeline approvals.
