Cochrane RCMP has released details on two armed robberies that took place shortly apart on Wednesday night (May 10).

Between 11:30pm and 12:30am, Cochrane police responded to two armed robberies at separate liquor stores in Cochrane.

A lone male entered the first store and brandished a small knife at the clerk, demanding money. The suspect, described as a Caucasian male standing about 6'5" tall and wearing a dark hoody and dark pants, fled in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of money. The clerk was not injured, and police obtained photos of the incident.

Within the hour, police responded to the second armed robber, where a man also brandished a small knife at the clerk. In this case, the clerk did not comply with the man's demands and there was a brief altercation, resulting in the clerk receiving some scratches. The suspect fled the store in a dark coloured car. He was described as a slim Caucasian man standing approximately 6'3" tall and wearing a black hoody with the hood up and black pants. Photos of this incident have not been made available.

Police are still investigating if these robberies are related to a similar incident that took place in Airdrie the same night, and there is no confirmation from the RCMP that the three robberies are connected.
