Cold temperatures and significant snowfall are expected over the next five days.

After a mild break in the cold, old man winter is back. Dan Kulak Meteorologist from Environment Canada said the next few days will be cold compared to the seasonal average.

"Normal highs for this time of year are around minus three, we are looking at ten to fifteen degrees cooler than that. Some flurries and snow are going to be more consistent over the weekend, generally, it's a winter pattern settling in."

It is too early to have an exact estimate of the amount of snowfall expected however, Kulak said the weekend will have the most continuous amount of snow.

"The biggest chance of snow is in the flurries on and off again but Saturday and Sunday look like its going to have a more significant amount of snowfall. That is if the trend continues as of Wednesday and Thursday."

Weather systems will tend to track the mountain boundary with a system moving along that zone with a cold front in the north and warm temperatures in the south. The weather systems coming through tend to bring snow and cause the temperature to change drastically sometimes with a ten to twenty-degree change.
