Community Links is now housed in one location, above the Salvation Army Thrift Store, after a successful move this past weekend.

Executive Director Brenda Hume says the move, which lasted all weekend, went very well. Everything was packed up on Friday morning, with Saturday reserved for furniture set up and Sunday seeing cleanup.

"Today we're just working on the final touches, in amongst being open. It was a lot of work, but we did it and we're ready to provide all kinds of services again."

To accommodate the move, Community Links was closed on Friday and Monday, but has reopened as of today (June 27).

The office space underwent substantial renovations, and Hume says the final phase of renos has just started.

"We have our final phase, and that began yesterday [June 26] with demolition, and so we're hoping that that will be done by the end of August."

The renovations will result in some program and meeting spaces, as well as additional offices.

Hume says the staff is excited to finally be housed in one location, but more than anything, they are excited about the benefits of one location for their clients.

"We're very happy about that because, when having the two locations, it was very hard for folks to be going to one location and then having to walk across the street and then sometimes to walk back again."

Hume explained that having one central location will hopefully lift a little stress from people already in stressful situations.
