Community Links will be remaining closed for a while longer following being forced out of their building last month.

On January 24th, the Airdrie Fire Department was called to the building on Main Street and discovered conditions of light smoke on the second floor. Further investigation determined the smoke was coming from a hydraulic oil reservoir in the elevator room which had overheated and was off-gassing and spewing smoke.

Community Links Executive Director Brenda Hume gives the new, tentative opening date.

"We are extended another week for our reopening. Our hopeful date now is March 4th."

Hume explains why the building must remain closed for a while longer.

"As it happens, there were some additional restorations that needed to be completed at our office as well as the building and that has pushed us back a week."

Hume says anyone looking for updates and information relating to off-site programs can check their website.

"All of our updates are on our website www.nrvcl.ab.ca. We have extended all of our programming that we were doing in the same locations and you can visit our locations and see where all of those are happening."
