Yesterday (March 20) saw a meeting between newly elected PC leader Jason Kenney and Wildrose leader Brian Jean.

The leaders came out of the meeting expressing commitment to a unity movement between the conservative parties.

"Brian and I had a very constructive, positive meeting," Kenney said in a statement, "I am encouraged to see that we share a common view about the next steps in the unity process."

Both men also expressed a shared belief that it isn't their place to negotiate a memorandum of agreement for unity. Rather, they will form discussion teams to work towards a unity agreement. Details on those those teams will be announced later this week.

"Today was a very positive and constructive meeting," Jean said in a statement, "We reaffirmed our belief in consulting our grassroots members and ensuring they have the final say. The members are in charge."
