Rumours have surfaced on Social Media that the NDP could call an election before 'Unite The Right' happens.

Former Airdrie MLA Rob Anderson says these are all just rumours and would be an unwise move for the NDP, considering what happened in the last election.

"One of the reasons why the PC's did so poorly last election was because of the snap election they called...it was still pretty far into the mandate but they called a snap election prior to the date that they had previously outlined to people that they were going to pick and people thought that was gaming the system."

Anderson says he's not too surprised that rumours like this are out, believing that the NDP could be shaking in their boots.

"They're upset about what's going on here with the Conservatives finally getting their act together and getting merged. That's life, that's politics, and it should be that way because there's very little that divides the two parties."
