Airdrie Fire Department responded to a call on November 24 just after 8:00 pm at the Dollarama near Walmart.

Once on the scene, crews discovered a garbage can on fire behind the store. The surrounding businesses were evacuated and firefighters were able to quickly control the blaze.

"We did investigate the fire, it does remain suspicious at this time, " said Deputy Fire Chief Garth Rabel, "Typically in these garbage can type fires, it's very difficult to determine exactly what caused it so the exact cause will remain undetermined, but it was suspicious in nature"

Thankfully no one was injured, and Dollarama was open for business the following day.
