The Mayor of Crossfield was recently recognized by the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association at the Convention and Trade Show last week.

Mayor Jo Tenant was one of several municipal leaders who were given the Distinguished Service Award for more than 20 years on a municipal council.

"It is a real feather in my cap I guess. It shows that you do what you are moved to do and it shows that other people recognize that as well."

Tenant was elected to serve this next term as Mayor back in October, but before that she served four terms as town Councillor and three terms before that as Mayor.

When asked why she continues to represent her town on council, she says she's too invested in the community to do otherwise.

"I care obviously about my community. Every time there's an election there's new issues, different issues or some of the ongoing issues that you would like to see resolved or come to fruition. It just always stays interesting, exciting and different."

Recipients of the Distinguished Service Award came from all over Alberta including Spruce Grove, Stony Plain and Camrose.
