Airdrie City Council met yesterday in the council chambers to discuss information and other items on their agenda for their bi-weekly meeting.

The Airdrie Community Population Profiles were presented to council. The Profiles present in-depth information of the populations in Airdrie to better understand the community, such as age. The council accepted the information.

The Downtown Parking Study was presented, offering information on the parking situation downtown. The study found there was no need for additional parking spaces. The council accepted the information.

The Airdrie Public Library asked that the week of February 24th to March 2nd as Freedom to Read week. The council approved to promote literacy, tolerance and a love to read in the community.

Three area structure plans were presented to council, one for West Hills, one for the Southwest community, and one for SE Yankee Valley BLVD. The council approved of the structure plans.

Bylaw No. B-02/19 was brought back to council after being discussed in prior meetings in a public hearing. The bill would be changing the publication of notification for information. Numerous people spoke against the bill. After amending the bill, it was passed.
