The Didsbury RCMP have released more details on a multi-vehicle crash Friday night (May 4) that left one man dead.

The incident took place on Highway 22 at Township Road 292 south of Cremona.  The RCMP say they responded to calls about a pick up truck driving northbound on Highway 22 that was swerving and driving erratically.

While they were attending the scene an additional call was received indicating that a truck matching the description of the one complained about previously was involved in a collision with several other vehicles.

A preliminary investigation reveals the truck was heading northbound on Highway 22 when it tried to pass a vehicle and struck a southbound recreational vehicle.  A collision then occurred with a northbound RV and a southbound semi.

The 30-year-old male driver of the pick up was pronounced dead at the scene.

The southbound RV that was collided with originally had two occupants in it, a male and a female.  Both suffered minor injuries and were taken by EMS to a local hospital.

The female driver of the second RV and male driver of the semi weren't injured in the crash.

Didsbury RCMP say speed and weather were not contributing factors and the investigation continues.  Traffic on Highway 22 was re-routed for several hours.

Police won't be providing further updates.
