The pond at Nose Creek Park has been drained to accommodate the construction of a new amphitheater, but what about the wildlife?

Kevin Brinson, Parks Team Leader with the City of Airdrie, says there isn't anything to worry about.

"We haven't actually stocked the pond for two years. There's no beavers that live in there, there's no muskrats that live in there, and basically there is no major impact on anything with the pond itself."

Brinson said that planning for this project has been underway since 2015, and one of the chief concerns was minimizing the impact on local wildlife. The City hasn't been putting wildlife in the pond, and they've had a person dedicated to making sure nothing makes a home there.

"We have a person on staff, our naturalized specialty person, and she's been helping us out, so we've been keeping a close eye on it, again making sure that nothing gets in there."

Brinson said they do plan to reintroduce fish into the pond for leisure fishing.

"We will have the pond stocked once again, once all construction has stopped in the area."
