Just before noon today (August 23), many Airdrie residents saw their power flash on and off during a momentary outage.

"Fortis Alberta had a failed piece of equipment that resulted in a momentary outage or a blip to our customers," said Jennifer MacGowan, Director of Customer and Corporate Relations with Fortis Alberta, "It would have been more of an inconvenience than anything else, their power should have come back on almost immediately."

MacGowan said that power line technicians got to work quickly on the faulty piece of equipment, located west of Highway 2 on Veterans Boulevard.

2000 customers, all within Airdrie, experienced the momentary blackout. There was no sustained outages.
