Today (October 30) marks the beginning of the fall legislative session.

Brian Mason says he expects it to be a busy season and says we can expect a few bills to be tabled.

"We'll be bringing over a dozen bills forward this session with each bill focused on making life better for every day Albertans."

Mason says the subjects will vary, from the rights of kids involved in gay straight alliances to protecting gas station employees and convenience store workers. With legalization also a hot topic, Mason ensures public safety is also top of the mind.

"As you all know, there's also legislative work to be done to make sure the public is safe as the federal government moves to legalize marijuana across Canada. After incredible amount of consultation over the past few months, you'll see us move forward with changes to ensure our roads and communities remain safe"
