On Thursday (February 23), four Airdrie firefighters will endure the elements for a good cause.

"This will be our fourth annual rooftop campout," said Tom Jukes, Charities Committee Member with the Airdrie Professional Firefighters Association, "We'll have four campers going onto the roof of Boston Pizza Thursday morning at 11:00am...and they'll be up there for seventy-two hours until Sunday morning when they come down."

Todd, Cassidy, Damon and Kyle will spend the weekend on the roof to raise funds and awareness for Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

Over the past three years, the Firefighters have raised over $42,000 through this fundraiser.

Jukes said the weekend will kick off with a special event.

"We have a brief opening ceremony and the campers will be going up, and they'll be on the roof the whole time camping out, spending all their time there, only coming down to go to the bathroom, and they'll have a boot to lower down to collect donations."

While they're camping, the firefighters will have some activities to keep them occupied.

"Up on the roof, the guys are going to be doing a spin class again, they'll be doing a fitness class, they're going to be out talking to people the whole time, and that's what really keeps them warm is talking to people and people keeping their morale up, giving donations."
