The former Mayor of the Town of Didsbury has died.

Rick Mousseau, who served two terms on Didsbury Town Council and one term as Mayor, passed away on Wednesday, September 26th from undisclosed causes.

A post on the Town of Didsbury Facebook page reads in part:

"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of past Mayor Rick Mousseau on September 26, 2018.  Administration, staff and previous members of Council had the pleasure of serving with Rick during his two terms as Councillor and his one term as Mayor of Didsbury.  Rick will always be remembered for his friendly, caring demeanor and his love for our community.

Most notably (Rick) served the Didsbury Fire Department as a member for 30 years and as their Fire Chief for 18 of those years.  Rick was a friend of all and will be deeply missed.  Our deepest condolences g out to his beloved family."

In a Tweet sent out on Thursday, Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills MLA Nathan Cooper said he was saddened to hear of Mousseau's passing, calling him more than a Town of Didsbury figurehead, Fire Chief, Mayor, and Volunteer.  Cooper said that Mousseau was a remarkable person, loved by all and that the world would never be the same.
