After a month-long trial and over eight hours of deliberation, the jury returned a verdict just after 2:00pm today (February 16).

The jury found Douglas Garland guilty on three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Alvin and Kathy Liknes and their grandson Nathan O'Brien.

Upon the delivery of the verdicts, the families of the victims burst into tears. Garland remained expressionless as the verdict was read.

After a short deliberation, the jury returned to the courtroom and recommended that Garland should serve consecutive sentences, meaning he could be sentenced to 75 years without parole.

Garland's sentence will be handed down tomorrow morning (February 17) at 10:00am.
