Another candidate has entered the race for City Council.

Chris Gourlie says he will run in the upcoming election because he is passionate about the future of Airdrie.

"I've been highly involved in the community for the past seven years through volunteer positions and board positions, and I just felt it was time to take a different direction and see what else I can do to help the city."

Gourlie says a key focus of his campaign will be closing the gap between the City and members of the community.

"I find there's been a lack of communication and listening between the City and residents, and I think we need more of that."

Gourlie says he also thinks steps need to be taken to keep up with the City's growth. He says the recently announced underpass on Yankee Valley is a good start.

"That's a wonderful first step, but we have a lot more we need to do to fix it."

Gourlie says he will also push for more health care in the city a a new multi-use facility in the North West of the city.
