Developers are proposing a large greenhouse and farmer's market for the southwest corner of Airdrie in Rocky View County.

An open house to give interested parties a first glimpse at the propsal will be held Wednesday night.

Cindy Bushfield a representative for the developers says the initial open house is to unveil the development permit proposal for the project in the Balzac area.

"The application was submitted the end of last year and we want to have input before our first council meeting, which isn't scheduled yet.  This is an opportunity to get that public opinion.    It's so imortant to have that."

Bushfield says the project is slated to be situated in Rocky View County, on the southwest corner of Airdrie city limits.  The proposal calls for a fairly large scale development, according to Bushfield.

"This is open farm land, so this is trying to implement some new farming technology as well as an opportunity to sell the products.  So the greenhouse portion fits in with appropriate land use for the area and the farmer's market is a place to sell it."

The first open house on Wednesday will be a chance to unveil drawings of the buildings and the layout of the propsal.  Bushfield says first open houses are usually eye opening for everyone involved.

The open house is scheduled for 7:00 to 9:00 pm, Wednesday, March 8th and will take place at the Balzac Community Hall.
