Members of the community are rallying behind Airdronians who were affected by the shooting in Las Vegas on October 1st.

Kimberley Ford, the "Souper Lady" who cooks out of the Social Supper in Airdrie was joined by three of her friends: Jenny Charter, Lisa Hanson and Sarah Stillborn to prepare meals to help these families.

"We wanted to do everything we possibly could to make life a little bit easier right now so they can cope. They're hurting, physically and emotionally and they're just craving time with their family. I'm sure this will take a very long time for them to heal. Right now they just need as much support as they can get."

Ford starting providing meals last weekend for Thanksgiving, through an online program called Meal Train, and says all three families enjoyed those Thanksgiving meals together.

The generosity and support though, hasn't stopped there.

"Now we've got people that are donating meals to them everyday. This week is already filled up but after that we've got lots of openings."

Ford says that doing something as simple as preparing a meal for the families goes a long way to helping them cope in the future.

"Being a mother of five children, I couldn't even imagine what they went through, the anxiety. It's something they'll never forget."

If you're interested in helping the families, you can contact the women directly on Facebook who are organizing the Meal Trains.
