Airdrie and Cochrane have felt a bit of change in the weather recently as springtime showers have been falling.

The rain, however, won’t be a downpour according to Meteorologist Dan Kulak with Environment Canada.

“We’re not expecting a big soaking, basically in the five to ten-millimetre range expected over the next 24 to 36 hour period.”

Kulak said that the weather will change to sunshine and temperatures in the mid 20’s which can again bring the risk of fires.

“The next thing we have to think about though is moving from flood season into fire season. The Province has already got a number of fires going in the forest protection area and so let’s keep that in mind when we’re out there.”

With the weather changing from cool to warm, you might be wondering what May Long Weekend will bring.

Kulak said it’s difficult to tell that far in advance.

“It’s a long ways out to be looking at the May Long Weekend right now but we have some indications that it might for the middle to latter part of next week. Don’t cancel your plans quite yet and keep in mind that weather can be changing in Alberta quite rapidly and it is unpredictable 10 days into the future.”
