Cochrane EMS and RCMP responded to an accident between a logging truck and an SUV on Friday, September 23.

Shortly after 7:00 a.m. Emergency Responders arrived on scene on Highway 22 near James Walker Trail.

The driver of the SUV, a female believed to be in her 30's or 40's sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to the Foothills Medical Centre via ambulance.

Paramedic Adam Loria said that STARS was initially requested to the scene, but stood down by ground paramedics.

"Based on our location and time to the Foothills Medical Centre and time to just scramble the aircraft, is was just quicker for us to transport her via ground."

Loria said the driver of the logging truck was uninjured and did not require medical attention.

Traffic was re-routed on Highway 22 while the RCMP conducted an investigation into the cause of the collision.
