The Cochrane and Area Humane Society received a large donation on Thursday, September 15, from Telus for its Humane Education Programs for kids.

A $4250 cheque was presented to the Humane Society, after they applied for a community grant through Telus, and were fortunate to receive it.

Cochrane and Area Humane Society Fund Development Officer, Jaimie Anton said the money goes towards all youth programming run out of the shelter.

"We do different day camps, summer camps, school presentations, and tours that come in with youth looking to learn about the shelter. We also have different curriculum based programs that cover off all different ages and groups depending on what they want to learn about."

Anton shared that the Humane Education Programs don't just teach youth about animals and the shelter, but different values as well.

"With our Humane Education we really concentrate on compassion and empathy, not only for animals, but for classmates, friends, and family."
