The Airdrie Minor Hockey Association (AMHA) voiced it's concerns to City Council on Monday, December 5.

The subject of an incoming ice crunch has been the center of attention for AMHA members.

"As AMHA continues to grow, it will no longer be possible to continue to meet the development model without capping our numbers," said Anthony Garland, Novice Travel Director, AMHA.

A large number of younger players in the first half of the minor hockey system threaten to overwhelm the current AMHA capacity.

This joins the long list of City infrastructure which is battling the Airdrie growth. The library is at capacity as well, as the need for a new building surfaces.

"Not a one of these youngsters have a library in their school," said Garland. "Where are we going to keep that 1915 farmers almanac, and how many of these kids are going to look for that."

The Airdrie Atom Lightning also came along to council to present a cheque for their Raise the Rink payment of $71,432.
