It's one of the busiest financial times of the entire year.

Airdronians are crunching the numbers as the deadlines to file taxes approaches.

It's also a busy time for local accountants including Jim Ostrander, owner of Padgett Business Services, who says everyone has a different story.

"People that bring in their information early expect a refund. The people that bring in their information later, they probably owe tax or they believe they owe tax, [and think] what's the rush? April 30th is coming quick enough."

The first major deadline coming up is the March 1st date for contributing to your RRSP. Ostrander says there is a bit of rush to contribute.

"We do see a lot of people buying RRSP at this time of year... For some it is just about the only time they'll buy RRSPs, for others it's 'well, OK, we better get it done by March 1st even though we contribute monthly."

With many changes coming from the Federal Government, Ostrander says taxes this year are not that different from last year, but that could change after the new national budget this spring.
