With winter finally upon us, drivers will be looking to keep their cars warm and running.

Barry Wong and Jeff Tataryn at Davis Chevrolet have some tips on how to keep your vehicle heated and healthy this winter.

"The first thing that comes to my mind is making sure you have a good battery in your vehicle, having your battery tested and making sure it's a good battery," said Tataryn. "Having a clean air filter in the vehicle. Keeping fresh fuel in the vehicle, with a lot more idling going on."

"Little things that drivers can do," added Wong, "Flip their sun visors down, so when your air is on defrost the air actually pulls along the windshield longer that way and redirects it back down and it clears the windows a little faster. From there it's always worthwhile to keep emergency blankets. Making sure tire pressure is topped up. In this cold weather, tires are going to be a lot lower, and then it makes it a lot harder to spin because you'll have that flatter spot on the bottom."

Wong also added a tip many don't consider.

"The thing that people don't think of is with all these new advents of remote starters, the vehicle can run idle so the inside's warm, but as they drive off, the fluids in their differential and transmission are still cold," says Wong "They still want to take off slowly and give the moving parts a chance to warm up and get lubricated."
