Yesterday morning (June 21st), kindergarten students from Heron's Crossing surprised students at RJ Hawkey Elementary School.

It was all part of the Kindness Ninjas Program started by Kindergarten students at Hawkey last December.

Teacher Kayla Williamson says since the program started, more students are catching on.

"We've collaborated with other Rocky View Teachers and classrooms have also become Kindness Ninjas and now there are over 200 Kindness Ninjas in Rocky View Schools."

Williamson says her students also sent Kindness Kits to other schools across the world and even put together a commemorative book called 'How To Be A Kindness Ninja'.

Nicole Wannop from Heron's Crossing says her students were so inspired by the Kindness Ninjas at RJ Hawkey, that they wanted to do something special for them.

"A bunch of my students came up to me and said 'Mrs Wannop. Why is no one showing kindness back to RJ Hawkey?...They are doing so much and we want to thank them'. The Kindergarten class decided that the best way would be to throw them an ice cream sundae and outside play party."

Both classes came together yesterday dressed in the Kindness Ninja shirts and headbands with ice cream provided by the local Save On Foods.

At the end of the day, a few students share why they love showing acts of kindness to each other.

"Being kind to people...helping people...treating others the way you'd want to be treated."
