The City of Airdrie has some recommendations for residents that will make its job easier when it comes to snow removal.

While the City is responsible for clearing snow, but residents can play a part in keeping roads clear with a few simple actions:

  • Park off the street if you live on a priority road for snowplowing. This allows plows to push snow as close to the curb as possible
  • Shovel snow to the right of your driveway to lower the amount of snow deposited in front of your driveway
  • Clear snow and ice off sidewalks within 24 hours of snowfall
  • Chip away any ice the builds up in the gutter
  • Stay back at least 10 meters from plow trucks
  • Never pass a plow while it is plowing or sanding
  • Slow down and drive safely during winter conditions
