There are still polls to come in, but UCP Candidate Angela Pitt for Airdrie-East is far ahead in the votes

Pitt currently has 4,685 votes with the NDP candidate Roxy Baez Zamora trailing behind in second with 1,544.

With 41 of 84 polls counted, it looks like the Airdrie-East riding will be UCP following the rest of the election.

Pitt addresses her crowd.

Pitt reacts to the announcement and answers a few questions.

In the past election, Pitt won as a candidate for the Wildrose Party, but was brought into the UCP when the Wildrose and PC combined. It was a close election, with her winning with 35.1% of the votes. NDP Candidate Chris Noble was a close second with 29.9%.

However, this election was not quite as close, with UCP gathering over 60% of the votes.
