Airdrie's Ian Aman ran around 1600 km from July 1st to August 29th.

The local athlete toured the province in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association.

"We really went out with the message in this run and the goal in this run was to really just help out the conversation, and help people that struggle with mental illness to have a voice and hopefully help people to keep moving forward no matter what your struggle is," said Aman.

Heading into the run, Aman hoped to raise $20,000, but surpassed his goal by raising approximately $26,000.

One of the biggest challenges was the physical toll that he experienced, paired with minimal recovery time.

"Spending a good chunk of your day running and then  having a brief amount of time to sort of go back and eat, stretch and try to recover and get up and do it the next day, that was definitely tough."

Aman spent much of his summer filming, which he hopes to turn into a documentary. He also has plans to write a book on his time on the road.

Following some down time to recover, Aman will pick himself back up and begin training for the Boston Marathon in April.
