14 year old Zoe Winn has packed shoe-boxes for Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child for as long as she can remember, but this year she had a little help from her school, Footprints for Learning.

"Our school collected around 400 boxes altogether. I brought in 70 myself. That's more boxes than there are students, so if that was a percentage it would be over 100% of students participating. So I think that we accomplished quite a bit especially since we are a smaller school and we brought in more than there are students."

Winn, who is in grade 9 at the school, took the lead on the project, but the school stepped up to match her effort.

"Everybody that wanted to be involved was involved in the packing and giving the boxes to the school."

Winn's fellow grade nines also had the opportunity to volunteer at Operation Christmas Child's collection centre in Calgary.

For Winn, this kind of work is rooted in an awareness that Canadians are extremely blessed.

"It motivates me because we have so much and down there they don't even have the necessities."
