Airdrie RCMP say that the man who was killed when he was struck by a semi on Highway Two south of Crossfield today (August 3rd) was involved in a domestic dispute in Calgary earlier in the day.

The collision occured at around 10:30 am this morning and the northbound lanes of Highway Two were shut down for five hours while Airdrie RCMP, RCMP Traffic Services and a collision analyst investigated.

They determined that the 46 year old man from Calgary was driving north on Highway Two when he pulled over just north of the Highway 72 overpass.

He then got out of his vehicle and walked into the driving lane where, despite the efforts of the semi driver to avoid the collision, he was struck and killed.

The RCMP say they've learned that the dead man was involved in a domestic assault in the Dalhousie neighbourhood of Calgary earlier in the day.  A woman in her 30's was reportedly taken to hospital.

According to the RCMP, the name of the deceased will not be released.
